Beacon
Beacon is a wearable personal safety device developed as part of my Final Year Thesis for my BID. Using proven industry mechanisms, it inflates into a tall visual signal to aid rescue in marine environments. Designed to complement existing PFD equipment, Beacon can be set to inflate automatically if a user falls overboard or be manually activated to create a visible landmark. Inspired by my own experience as a sailing instructor and coach, the project was developed as a market-ready solution to address a real-world safety challenge.

Fall & Winter Term
This design was developed over 8 months through research, testing, refinement, and presentation. I tested it in as many real-world environments as possible to shape the design direction—a challenge made tougher by working through October to April in Canada.
